INTRODUCTION
Welcome to Timber Development UK
Timber Development UK (TDUK) has become the largest timber supply chain body in the UK
following the merger of the Timber Trade Federation and TRADA. The merger has brought
together more than 1,500 businesses from across the timber supply chain, at a pivotal point in the
development of the construction industry.
Construction is facing challenging times ahead as the UK undergoes rising living costs and a period
of economic uncertainty. Despite this, demand for timber is rising and the future for this lowcarbon building material – and everyone who works with it – is bright. There is a growing interest in
designing buildings with timber, both to better connect our living and working environments and to
act as an agent of change towards more sustainable, low-carbon forms of construction.
TDUK is working to unite the supply chain and advocate for more timber to be used in mainstream
construction. We want to lead best practice and ensure greater knowledge of the many bene昀椀ts
of timber, as well as creating the tools, training and guidance to help everyone – from sawmill and
supplier, to merchant, joiner and builder – build a better world through wood.
Together, our industry can promote the sale, purchase, speci昀椀cation and use of timber to create
striking buildings that re昀氀ect a dynamic industry, 昀椀rmly establishing timber as the premier lowcarbon building material.
