industry. But since its 2022
acquisition by binderholz
– Europe’s largest and the
world’s third-largest timber
processor – BSW Group has
undergone a quiet revolution.
Now, the company is
introducing a more connected,
sustainable, and future-focused
model for the entire timber
supply chain.

in 1988 following the merger
of Brownlie with Smith and
Western, BSW Group has always
held a prominent role in British
forestry and sawmilling. Yet its
transformation in recent years
has been remarkable. Moving
from a family-owned business
into private equity ownership,
and now back into family
ownership under binderholz
group, BSW has not only grown
but matured – embracing
integration, innovation and
e昀케ciency on a whole new scale.
“We’ve gone from a series of
connected acquisitions to a fully

whole timber lifecycle – from
tree nursery to pallet reuse,”
says James Brennan, Head of
Marketing at BSW. “It’s a huge
transformation, and one that
we think sets us apart in the UK
market.”
A fully integrated
supply chain
BSW now operates across
three core pillars: forestry,
timber manufacturing, and
pallets and packaging. Each
pillar has been strategically
developed to maximise
